President • Sara Naessig

snaessig01@wayne.edu

Sara grew up in a charming little place called Bloomsburg, which is known as the only town in Pennsylvania (though don’t ask her what that means). At the ripe old age of three years old, Sara dived into the world of sports, leading her to activities like soccer, basketball, karate, and gymnastics, just to name a few. Sara traded in her farmland roots for the Big Apple when she enrolled in Manhattan College, a school that ironically is not located in Manhattan. During her time there, she pursued her B.S. in Biology and played Division 1 soccer (at least when she was not injured).

Sara has an appetite for adventure and trying new things, whether that entails riding camels in Dubai or sampling exotic foods like cooked rattlesnake or any number of cultural dishes. Her journeys have brought her to Wayne State in Detroit, where the appetite that she seeks to satiate is one for knowledge (and Slim Jims, in equal measure). Outside of her studies and sports, Sara also possesses a passion for all things Disney, from its movies to its theme parks and everything in-between. In her precious free time, she also indulges in some reality television like 90 Day Fiancé. From fairytale cartoons to messy reality, Sara gravitates toward things that offer a sense of excitement, which she hopes that her chosen path will offer throughout her career.

Vice President • Yousif Jafar

yousif.jafar@wayne.edu

Yousif grew up in Dana Point, California and attended UCLA where he received a B.S. in Neuroscience. Yousif also claims to “chef” at the same skill level as The Gordon Ramsay, but it’s quite evident by his rotation of three meals that his skill level is far superior to that of Gordon Ramsay. While not burning toast, Yousif attempts to play as many sports as possible. You will often find him in the halls of Scott claiming that if he never hurt his knee he would have been playing D1 of [insert sport here]. Outside of hobbies, Yousif loves to learn. Whether it’s a cool history fact (like how the first written language originated from Iraq) or a personal story, Yousif is all ears to learn and listen. He is currently expanding his random factoid knowledge so that he can one day win Trivia Day at the old memory care facility he used to work at.

Alongside her friends, Sarah runs a food blog that captures her culinary adventures. She also enjoys biking, running, lifting, and watching movies. Every year, Sarah embarks on a hiking adventure. Issac was born and raised right here in the city of Detroit, MI. After graduating top of his high school class, he moved to Ann Arbor, MI to attend the University of Michigan in 2008, where he's lived ever since. In the most immediate time between completing his undergraduate studies and deciding to pursue medicine as a career, Issac worked for several years at NSF International as a Project Manager, where he focused on strategic planning, business development, and risk management for state and international government contracts concerning water and chemical safety as it pertained to global public health. Through his varied professional and personal experiences, Issac hopes to marry the worlds of human health and business ethics, medicine, microbiology, and outer space!

Issac's past and current group affiliations include the Michigan Marching Band (alto sax), National Intercollegiate Band, Kappa Kappa Psi - National Honorary Band Fraternity, and Principal Danseur for Russian Ballet Academy of Michigan. He is a proud 3-time attendee of the Arc'teryx Alpine Academy in Chamonix, France, where he learned to hone his skills in mountaineering, backcountry backpacking, and wilderness medicine upon the slopes of Mount Blanc. He also serves as a Board Member for the University of Michigan Band Alumni Association. Other interests and pastimes include music composition (and music in general), poetry, photography, dance, movies (LoTR is his favourite of all time), travel, gardening, podcasts (political history and murder mystery) and CrossFit. Outside of school these days, Issac prioritizes spending time with his fiancé, Steven, and Siberian Husky pup, Aaro. 🙂
